LANSING, Ill. (October 2017) – This year, Fire Prevention Week is Sunday, October 8, through Saturday, October 14. In anticipation of the focus on fire safety, Lansing Firefighter/Paramedic Tim Kotecki made a visit to All God’s Children Preschool at First United Methodist Church in Lansing. Kotecki showed the kids the fire engine and put on his fire gear. By giving kids exposure to the gear and allowing them to interact with a fireman in full gear, Fire Prevention Week helps reduce the fear of seeing a fireman during a fire.

In addition to seeing Firefighter Kotecki in his gear, the children were able to hear him talk through his mask and listen to the alarm sounds on his air pack.

The children were taken around the fire engine to see the different compartments and the tools kept in them. Teachers Delinda Sharp and Debbie Rocknich also got the tour.
Fire Prevention Week
The kids were all assisted into the fire engine to look around on the inside.

Fire Prevention Week is dedicated to teaching the community, particularly children, about fire safety. The kids from All God’s Children Preschool made a card thanking Firefighter Kotecki for his visit.
