LANSING, Ill. (March 20, 2018) – The Village of Lansing is seeking volunteers for the ninth annual Community Clean-Up Day, to be held Saturday, April 28, from 10:00am–12:00pm. “This is a great way for residents to get involved and make a difference in their community,” said Clerk Vivian Payne, organizer of the event.

Residents have the option of volunteering individually or signing up with a group. Church groups, neighbors, and Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops have all been involved in past Community Clean-Up Days. This year the new Beautification Committee will be involved as well.

Every year, the Clean-Up Day brings out over 100 volunteers to pick up trash and litter in assigned areas. Garbage bags are provided and can be picked up at Village Hall the morning of the event. Gloves are not provided, but residents are welcome to bring their own.

Participants are invited to gather at the First Church pavilion for a grilled lunch at noon following the clean-up. First Church is located at 3134 Ridge Road, directly across from Village Hall.

Anyone interested in volunteering must pre-register:

  • Call Clerk Payne directly at 708-895-7207, or
  • Complete the online form.
