SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. (April 16, 2018) – Forest preserves throughout Cook County are celebrating Earth Day in a variety of ways this month. “Earth Day is a great way to explore the Forest Preserves while renewing our commitment to the natural environment,” says a statement from Cook County Forest Preserves. “It’s also an opportunity to continue preserving habitat for the millions of plants, animals, and other living things that thrive in the Forest Preserves.”

The event most local to Lansing residents is an Earth Day awareness event at Sand Ridge Nature Center on Saturday, April 21, from 10:00am–3:00pm. The day is intended to be “a reminder to be good stewards of our planet every day.” Hiking, puppet shows, art-making, a tour of Camp Shabbona Woods, and Earth Day Jeopardy are all scheduled activities.

Sand Ridge Nature Center is located at 15891 S Paxton Avenue in South Holland, Illinois.
