LANSING, Ill. (April 27, 2018) – The Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau will be celebrating tourism and the benefits for the state economy with an event on May 2. The event will involve music, food, beverages, and a silent auction, and it will be hosted at the CSCVB office, 2304 173rd Street in Lansing, Illinois.

The event will also celebrate the Illinois Bicentennial.

2016 tourism statistics show that out-of-state visitors spent more than $38 billion in Illinois, offsetting taxes for residents. Loren Petrakis-Mueller, Communications Manager for the CSCVB, said via email, “All around the Chicago Southland, tourism is going strong–with the opening of Accelerated Indoor Speedway & Events in Mokena, new hotels, and the addition of many yearly festivals and events, not to mention the 10+ unique sporting events coming to the area over the summer/fall season.”
