Two teens arrested with weapons, cannabis

LANSING, Ill. (May 23, 2018) – On May 21, 2018, at approximately 9:00pm, a Lansing Police Officer, while on patrol, observed a suspicious vehicle parked on the 17100 block of Park Avenue. The officer approached the vehicle, a red Chevrolet Impala, which was occupied by two subjects. The officer smelled cannabis coming from inside the vehicle. As a result of the investigation Lansing Police Officers recovered two semiautomatic handguns, ammunition, and suspect cannabis.

Keith Herron, male black, 18 years of age, of Lansing, Illinois, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlawful use of weapon. Herron was subsequently transported to Markham Courthouse for his initial appearance.

A male black juvenile, 17 years of age, of South Holland, Illinois, who was with Herron, was also arrested and will be petitioned for aggravated unlawful use of weapon, and for being in possession of cannabis. The juvenile was ultimately released to his parents pending a future court date.
