Mary E. Gjeldum age 87, of Lansing, Illinois passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018. She is survived by her loving children: Carl (Pam) Gjeldum, Richard (Rita) Gjeldum, Sheila (Richard) Magnini, Terence (Kathy) Gjeldum and Nancy Gjeldum. Cherished grandmother of: Jonathan (Nicole) Gjeldum, Jennifer (Matthew) Kammer; Kathryn (James) Fraser IV, Abigail (Jeffrey) Erickson, Edward (Christen) Gjeldum, Olivia Gjeldum, David Gjeldum, John Gjeldum, Brandon Magnini, Nicholas Magnini, Meg Gjeldum, Meridith Gjeldum, Marc (Taylor) Gjeldum, Mia Gjeldum, Craig Beasley, Jeremy Beasley, Briana Beasley and great grandmother of 19. Sister; Helen (Andy) Lakatos of Calumet City, IL, and Brother; Steve (Mary) Begala of Highland, IN, and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband Carl Gjeldum, sons; Lawrence and Robert Gjeldum, parents: Steven and Mary Begala.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, October 6, 2018, from 8:00 to 10:00 AM, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3010 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow visitation.

Mary was an awesome homemaker (baker and cook), seamstress, and fashion consultant whose attention to detail, style, and beauty was impeccable. More importantly, her love and devotion to her husband Carl and especially the love of her 7 children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her life and purpose. Mary was loved by many, and she will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mary’s name to Unity Hospice, 8407 Virginia St., Merrillville, IN 46410.
