It is with great sadness that the family of Maria Martinez announces her passing on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at the age of 89 years.
She was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico on August 4, 1929. She was the oldest of ten brothers and sisters. She left her home town of Aguascalientes in September of 1956 with her then four sons to join her husband in Chicago. She gave birth to her fifth son in Chicago to complete her family.
She will be forever remembered by her husband and best friend of 70 years, Ignacio, her surviving four loving sons Hector [Joy], Robert [Jane], Fernando [Quincy] and Hugo and her “adopted” sons Carlos [Olivia] and Robert Frausto. She is also survived by nine loving grandchildren Hector Jr. [Cheryl], Christina [John], Robert Jr. [Jovi], Victoria [Joshua], Victor [Ali] Teresa [Joe], Marie [Christopher], Daniel and Luis. And she is survived by five great-grandchildren Tori, Aiden James, Gabriela, Isabela, and Emma.
In Mexico she is also survived by her seven loving brothers and sisters: Antonio, Socorro, Juana Maria [Raul], Maria Elena [Ubaldo], Jesus [Luz], Olivia [Ricardo], and Maria Ester [Edgar], and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents Socorro and Alfonso, brother Salvador, sister Eva, and youngest son Daniel.
Friends are invited to meet with Maria’s family on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 19, beginning with prayers at 9:15 AM at the funeral home and proceeding to Our Lady of Knock Catholic Church, 501 163rd Street, Calumet City for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial.
