BEDFORD PARK, Ill — Expecting to process and deliver more than 900 million packages—a record—between Thanksgiving and New Year’s this year, USPS has expanded both delivery and retail services at many Post Offices.
The Lansing, Illinois, Post Office will have extended Saturday hours on December 1, 8, and 15, staying open 8:30am–4:00pm, instead of closing at 3:00pm.
Additionally, USPS.com allows people to print labels, print postage, and call for their carrier to pick up their package from their home or office without ever going to a Post Office.
The Postal Service recommends customers in the U.S. observe the following mailing and shipping deadlines to ensure that deliveries are made in time for Christmas:
- December 14 — USPS Retail Ground
- December 20 — First-Class Mail/Packages
- December 20 — Priority Mail
- December 22 — Priority Mail Express
The Lansing Post Office is located at 18125 Roy Street in Lansing, Illinois. The Post office opens daily (except Sundays) at 8:30am and closes weekdays at 7:00pm. Normal Saturday hours are 8:30am–3:00pm, but the first three Saturdays in December, the Post Office will remain open until 4:00pm.
