Property tax assessment appeal seminar well attended

Appeal deadline for Thornton Township is December 27, 2018

LANSING, Ill. (December 18, 2018) – Over 60 people attended last night’s property tax assessment appeal seminar at the Lansing Public Library. Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak offered the hour-long seminar to help taxpayers seeking to appeal their 2018 property tax assessments.

Thornton Township is open for appeal through December 27, 2018. Taxpayers may file an appeal online by visiting the Board of Review website:

Forms can also be downloaded from the Board of Review website and printed out. Alternatively, appeal forms may be picked up at local township offices or at the Board of Review, 118 N. Clark Street, Room 601, Chicago, Illinois.

Last night’s seminar was sponsored by Lansing Mayor Patty Eidam, and she was in attendance at the event.

Appeal deadline for Bloom Township is January 8, 2019

Lansing residents who live north of 186th Street are in Thornton Township; residents south of 186th are in Bloom Township.
Bloom Township Assessor Nora Martinez-Gomez reminds residents that Bloom Township is also open for Property Tax Appeals with the Cook County Board of Review. The last day to file an appeal will be January 8, 2019.

Martinez-Gomez says, “If you are interested in filing a property tax appeal please come into the office with your Tax Bill and Picture ID. My staff will be able to answer any questions you may have and file all the necessary paperwork for your appeal.”
