Residents and guests encouraged to “shop local” on Saturday, November 25
a message from The Lansing Journal in partnership with the Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce
LANSING, Ill. (November 17, 2017) – The Lansing Journal is a community-building newspaper, and we understand the importance of commerce in our community.
Shopping local and paying local sales taxes helps our community by generating revenue that can be directed toward road repairs, garbage pick-up, infrastructure enhancements, and a variety of services provided by our police, fire, Public Works, and other departments.
But perhaps more important is the community-building that happens between Lansing residents and Lansing business owners when sales transactions become personal interactions. Shopping local is how relationships develop, and that’s what community is all about.
The Saturday after Thanksgiving has become known as Small Business Saturday. We at The Lansing Journal and the Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce are encouraging your participation.
Shoppers: Will you visit at least one Lansing business on Saturday and spend a little money there? Bring your out-of-town guests with you!
Businesses: Will you join the Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce? Doing so not only gives you access to their resources and services, it also adds vibrancy to the network of businesses who are building community here.
