Mock interviews help TF South students land jobs

Local businesses and volunteers help students prepare

by Melanie Jongsma

LANSING, Ill. (November 28, 2017) – TF South High School students will have the opportunity to practice job interview skills with members of Lansing’s business community. Friday, December 8, is Mock Interviews day.

This year’s interviewers involve professionals and volunteers from a variety of fields:

“Mock Interviews allow our students to practice a life skill,” says Mozella Brown, Work Coordinator at the TF South campus. “This is a skill that they need to build and refine in order to become productive employees for the 21st century.”

Brown and TF South staff provide the business representatives with the job postings, sample interview questions, a grading rubric, and refreshments. The businesses conduct live interviews and then discuss a student’s strengths and weaknesses and give personal advice.

“This event could not happen without the support of compassionate industry professionals,” says Brown.

TF South High School is located at 18500 Burnham Avenue in Lansing.
