Grateful and committed

New Year’s thoughts from The Lansing Journal

by Melanie Jongsma, Managing Editor

The Lansing JournalLANSING, Ill. (December 31, 2017) – This is the 222nd article we have posted since launching this community newspaper in early September 2017. In the process of researching and writing all those stories, we’ve learned new things and built new relationships. We’ve had the opportunity to share stories and photos about Lansing businesses, schools, arts and entertainment, religion, sports, fitness, and health. There’s a lot going on in Lansing!

From the very beginning, we’ve received so much encouragement from our readers—and we are grateful. We enjoy the work we are doing, and your cards, emails, financial support, and Facebook posts assure us that this work is meaningful and important. Thank you.

Launching into 2018 we remain committed to our goal of providing balanced, professional news that helps build community. We will stay curious and inclusive. We will strive for accuracy and be honest when we make mistakes. We will keep working to earn your trust.

Thank you for sharing this adventure with us. We are looking forward to 2018!
