Robin Kelly’s office honors Lansing Eagle Scouts

LANSING, Ill. (April 5, 2018) – At the April 3 meeting of Boy Scout Troop 276, five Eagle Scouts were honored in a special presentation. Rick Bryant, Senior Advisor to Illinois 2nd District Congressional Representative Robin Kelly, joined the meeting to award five flags that had been flown over the United States capitol. Congresswoman Kelly purchased the flags at her own cost, but she was in Washington and was not able to present the flags personally.

Congresswoman Kelly did however include the following letter with each Eagle Scout’s flag:

Congratulations on attaining the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. This accomplishment shows you are a young man of integrity who works hard to improve yourself and your community. You are among the select few who through dedication and perseverance have achieved this honor. Eagle Scouts have a reputation for excellence, and you are an example of just how much a Scout can accomplish.

Your Scoutmaster Jacobsen has informed me that you steadfastly follow the Scout Law, which calls for Scouts to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, courteous, kind, brave, and reverent. You also have demonstrated qualities of leadership and compassion.

Your dedication and commitment to service will have a positive impact on the lives of many people. I hope that one day you will use these same qualities in service to your community and the nation.

For your admirable achievement, I present to you a US flag that has flown over the US capitol in Washington, DC.

I wish you the very best in your future endeavors.

Sincerely,
Robin Kelly

Senior Advisor Bryant called up each of the Eagle Scouts individually to accept the flag and the letter.
