Upcoming opportunities for Bloom Township residents

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. (June 1, 2018) – Stop at Bloom Township headquarters on Halsted Street during business hours any weekday, and you’ll find a brochure rack full of flyers announcing a variety of events, outings, and opportunities. We’ve highlighted some of them below in chronological order, along with contact info for each one.

June 19ā€“20: AARP Smart Driver course

  • Can be taken by anyone, not just drivers who are 50+
  • No tests
  • Completion of course may qualify you for insurance discounts
  • Cost: $15.00 for AARP members; $20.00 for non-members
  • Location: Bloom Township Center, 425 S. Halsted Street, Chicago Heights
  • Time: 9:00amā€“1:00pm
  • Pre-registration required

Friday, June 23: Senior Trip to Brookfield Zoo

  • Bus departs Bloom Township at 9:30am
  • Bus departs Brookfield Zoo at 2:30pm
  • Enjoy the day on your own
  • Tram Tour and side attractions are available at additional cost
  • Bring your own brown bag lunch, or bring money to purchase lunch
  • Pre-registration is required
  • Transportation fee (luxury motor coach) is $20.00 per person

June 28ā€“August 1: Kids Soccer Camp (ages 7ā€“13)

  • Registration is now open
  • $50.00 for six weeks of learning soccer fundamentals ($100 for non-residents)

Thursday, July 19: Self Defense for Seniors

  • Class led by Brian Smith, Self Defense Trainer
  • Instruction to include self protection, how to escape, and how to use pepper spray effectively

Wednesday, October 3: Low-Cost Rabies Vaccine Clinics

  • From 10:00amā€“2:45pm
  • Dogs, cats, and ferrets
  • One-year vaccine: $7.00
  • Three-year vaccine: $21.00
  • Ferret vaccine: $9.00
  • Pets must be at least three months old and own by Cook County residents with valid ID
  • Cash or check only; no credit or debit
