South Suburban College athletes receive NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards

SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. (June 20, 2018) – The South Suburban College Athletic Department announced eight students as winners of NJCAA All-Academic Student-Athlete Awards for 2017-2018, including softball player Annie Zubek, who made NJCAA All-Academic First Team with a 4.0 GPA.

NJCAA All-Academic Student-Athlete Awards come in three categories:

  • NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
  • NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
  • NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA

The recipients in each category are listed below.

Academic | First Team

  • Annie Zubek, Softball II

Academic | Second Team

  • Jackson Dvorak, Baseball I
  • Nick McAlister, Baseball I
  • James Quinn, Baseball I
  • Ashley Wiltjer, Softball II

Academic | Third Team

  • Kyle Hallberg, Baseball I
  • Arrion Pamon, Volleyball II, Basketball II
  • Matt Waznis, Baseball I

“We are very proud of these student-athletes who are not only winners on the field but more importantly in the classroom,” stated Steve Ruzich, SSC Athletic Director.
