Dutch Fest 2018 scheduled for Saturday

information provided by Elim Christian Services

CRESTWOOD, Ill. (September 17, 2018) – The 23rd Annual Elim Dutch Festival begins at 7:30am this Saturday, September 22. The annual event is held on the grounds of Elim Christian Services, 13020 S. Central Avenue in Crestwood, Illinois. Admission and parking are free.

The day includes a variety of ethnic Dutch food, beginning with a pannenkoek (pancake) breakfast, and continuing with banket (pastries with almond filling), hutspot (beef and potatoes), and oliebollen (fried donuts). Pizza, hamburgers, bratwurst, hotdogs, and other familiar foods are also available. The festival also recreates a Dutch Village made up of craft and food shops and a colorful farmer’s market.

Previous Elim Dutch Festivals have included a variety of entertainment and musical acts, as well as games and activities for children.

“In addition to providing a fun and family-friendly experience for all ages, the Dutch Festival connects people to the Elim community, an experience you’ll never forget,” said Dan Vander Plaats, Elim’s Director of Advancement. “Once you step on Elim’s campus and get a sense of the love, acceptance, and values that are lived out each day at Elim, you are impacted. We hope to connect thousands more people to Elim’s community this year, and help each one understand the value and importance of our neighbors who live with disabilities.”

Dutch Festival is Elim’s largest fundraiser of the year, with all proceeds directly impacting hundreds of children and adults with disabilities whom Elim serves each day. For more information or a detailed schedule of the day’s events, visit Elim Dutch Festival.
