LANSING, Ill. (November 30, 2018) – Out of concern for the dozens of children potentially involved in Saturday evening’s tree-lighting and Santa arrival, the Village of Lansing and the Lansing Area Chamber decided Friday morning to reschedule the holiday tradition.

Ceremonies will take place Wednesday, December 5, beginning at 5:30pm on the Santa House campus.

The program will remain the same—the evening will begin with a performance of Christmas carols by the Memorial Junior High School Choir and Girl Scouts. Village representatives will make presentations at 6:00pm, after which Santa Claus will arrive to witness the lighting of the Christmas tree by Mayor Eidam.

The Santa House will then officially open, and Santa will visit with children. Santa’s December schedule at the Santa House is as follows:

  • Wednesdays 6:00–8:00pm
    December 5
    December 12
    December 19
  • Fridays 6:00–8:00pm
    December 7
    December 14
    December 21
  • Saturdays 1:00–3:00pm
    December 8
    December 15

In addition, the Chamber’s annual Breakfast With Santa will be held on December 8, from 8:00 to 11:00am in the cafeteria at TF South High School (18500 Burnham Avenue). Every child at the breakfast will receive a goody bag. Tickets are $5.00 each, and proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Family Giving Fund, which helps local families who are experiencing hard times.

The Santa House is located at 18106 Henry Street, just north of the Fox Pointe stage.
