LANSING, Ill. (December 23, 2018) – The Bourbon Aristocracy, a Chicago-based Bluegrass band, will perform an “After Hours” concert at the Lansing Public Library (2750 Indiana Avenue, Lansing, Illinois) on Friday, January 4, from 6:30-7:30pm. The concert will be free to the public and open to all ages.

Formed in 2013 to perform at a Kentucky Derby-themed fundraiser, The Bourbon Aristocracy has performed at Horse Thief Hollow Brewing Company, Mrs. Murphy’s Irish Bistro, Journeyman Distillery, Shedd Aquarium, Chicago Park District, the Downtown Oak Park concert series, Louisville Kentucky Visitors Center and Tourism Board, Skokie Public Library, Fiddler’s Hearth, Long Grove Vintage Days, Untitled Supper Club, and many other private events.

The name Bourbon Aristocracy pays tribute to the fine Kentucky whiskey from the Bluegrass State and one of band member Ethan Sellers’ distant relatives. Part of Sellers’ extended family (the Taylors) hails from Kentucky and includes E.H. Taylor, the grand-nephew of President Zachary Taylor. E.H. Taylor began what is now the Buffalo Trace distillery and was the father of the modern bourbon industry through his improvements in bourbon quality control, production, finance, sales, and promotion. Taylor’s work to secure the passage of the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897 helped ensure the authenticity and purity of bourbon whiskey through stringent requirements to protect the consumer from low-quality whiskey with often dangerous additives.

Embracing a similar commitment to quality and tradition, The Bourbon Aristocracy bases its sound primarily on traditional bluegrass by Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, Stanley Brothers, and other artists following in that tradition.
