GLENWOOD, Ill. (January 10, 2019) – At yesterday’s Lansing Area Chamber luncheon, the first of the new year, Chamber Director Amy Todd described some new events that are planned, and some new twists on popular events that have run for several years. The luncheon was held at Glenwoodie Golf Club, a new member of the Lansing Area Chamber.

Expo

Last year’s Business Expo was the first event of its kind, and it proved to be not only well attended but also beneficial to participants. The Chamber plans to bring back the Expo this year, tentatively on Friday, April 12.

Parade

This year’s Good Neighbor Day Parade falls on Saturday, May 4, so the theme will be “May the Fourth be With You.” Chamber Director Amy Todd said, “A Star Wars theme opens it up for a lot of people to do some fun stuff. We hope to see a lot of cool costumes and floats.”

Golf

Though the Chamber Golf Outing is typically a fall event, this year, to freshen it up, the outing will be held on Friday, June 21.

LOOP

The LOOP Bicycle Ride has been a popular community event for six years, though weather has been problematic for about half of those years. This year the Chamber has pushed the date back to September 21, a Saturday, hoping the fall weather will be more stable.

Wine

Saturday, October 19, the Chamber will host Lansing’s first Downtown Wine Walk, an opportunity for residents and guests to walk through downtown Ridge Road and stop in designated Chamber member businesses to taste wine, enjoy snacks, and receive information, coupons, or samples from the business. The goal is to create additional awareness about the types of local businesses Lansing has to offer. Businesses who do not have a building along Ridge Road are invited to put up a pop-up booth in Clock Tower Plaza and participate in the Wine Walk there.

Christmas

The traditional Christmas Tree-Lighting ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, December 7, in partnership with the Village of Lansing. Santa’s Pancake Breakfast is scheduled for Saturday, December 14.
