LANSING, Ill. (January 23, 2019) – Lansing Christian School will be holding its annual Kindergarten Preview Night, providing an opportunity for parents and their children to experience the school’s programs. The Kindergarten Preview Night is this Thursday, January 24, at 6:30pm for both parents and their children.

The English track is led by Miss Alexa Groen, and the Spanish immersion track is led by Mrs. Sandy Tijerina. Children can experience a mini-lesson from each teacher, and parents can explore both the English and Spanish Immersion programs.

In both tracks, student learning is differentiated to grow students in their strengths and to support learning challenges. Whether children know their letters or are already beginning to read, they will be challenged and taught at their ideal level.

Both Kindergarten programs feature small class sizes which helps teachers to know each child. Class sizes are capped at 18 students. Children should be 5 years old by September 1.

The Spanish immersion track is designed for English-speaking families who want their child to become fluent in Spanish. Students in this track experience learning completely in the Spanish language from a teacher fluent in Spanish. This program begins in Kindergarten and currently runs through third grade, with Kindergarten being the only entry point for students to gain admittance.

Principal Jon Postma says, “Our Kindergarten programs have continued to grow over the last five years, as we provide a unique learning experience to our community. We have a strong teaching staff, small class sizes, and a well-developed, Christ-centered curriculum that allows each child to grow in their own special way.”

As Christianity is core to all activities at Lansing Christian School, students begin to see all of their learning in light of their relationship with God, from acting out Bible stories, to learning more about creation and the natural world around them.

Information about curriculum, busing, before and after care, and more will be offered at the Kindergarten Preview Night. A drawing will be held at the end of the night for a free application fee.
