Free self defense class offered to local women

LANSING, Ill. (April 25, 2019) – Trinity Lutheran Church and One Light Self Defense are partnering to offer a self defense class for women. The class is free to participants, though donations will be collected for the Women’s Domestic Violence Shelter in Homewood, Illinois.

Participants will learn simple and proven techniques such as:

  • Avoidance tactics
  • Self-defense misconceptions
  • Offensive techniques: strikes and targets
  • Defensive escapes: grabs, chokes, hair pulls, bear hugs

The class is open to women of high-school age and older. Participants will be asked to sign a waiver before attending.

The class will be held in the gymnasium of Trinity Lutheran Church, 2505 Indiana Avenue in Lansing.
