Sun shines on First Christian Church of Lansing

LANSING, Ill. (June 2, 2019) – First Christian Church was blessed with sunny skies on the morning of their outdoor Praise in the Park service at Lan Oak Park. The park grounds were still saturated from May’s record rainfalls, and the grass was tall in the low spots where park district mowers didn’t dare to ride, but 60 church members gathered in the large gazebo, ready for praise and a picnic.

“Thank the Lord it quit raining,” said the preacher to the people, who responded with Amens and applause. This spring’s weather has been not only rainy, but also unpredictable, making it difficult to plan outdoor events.

The official address of Lan-Oak Park is 180th Street and Arcadia Avenue, but the park—Lansing’s largest—actually fills the entire block between 178th and 180th Streets, between Arcadia and Oakley Avenues. Park permits may be obtained at the park district offices at the Eisenhower Fitness Center, 2550 178th Street in Lansing. Call 708-474-8552 for more information.
