Daisy and Nori greet the public during opening weekend of The Secret Life of Pets 2

LANSING, Ill. (June 13, 2019) – On Saturday, June 8, from 3:00–5:00pm, Lansing’s New Vision Cinema 8 theatre partnered with the South Suburban Humane Society for a special event. It was opening weekend for The Secret Life of Pets 2, and it was a pet adoption opportunity.
Theater Manager Sergio Villarreol explained, “The idea came because all of our New Vision Theatres decided that we wanted ways to bring the community into theaters. According to Villarreol the theatre and humane society have partnered on events in the past. “We try to do events like these about six times a year to hopefully bring in the community,” Villarreol said.
The Secret Life of Pets 2 centers around Max, the Terrier, and the way he copes with major life changes, so it was a natural fit for an adoption event.
South Suburban Humane Society brought in two dogs—Daisy, a coonhound mix, and Nori, a lab mix. Kathleen Panazanin, Volunteer Manager at the South Suburban Humane Society, said, “We brought these two dogs because they’re cute, family friendly, and great with children.” However, the logistics of the event made it difficult for prospective owners to watch the movie first and then meet Daisy and Nori—unless they chose to see the 1:45pm showing.
Jeremy Jones, who brought his family to see the movie, said, “I loved the movie, and the rest of my family enjoyed it also.”
The Secret Life of Pets 2 is rated PG, and the run time is 1 hour and 27 minutes.
Neither Daisy nor Nori was adopted at the New Vision Cinema 8 event.
