Free STEM program offered this summer

RIVERDALE, Ill. (June 16, 2019) – Residents from all 17 Thornton Township municipalities are invited to participate in a new community STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program this summer. Residents with children ages 8 months to 6 years old, from Lansing, South Holland, Calumet City, Harvey, Riverdale, Dolton, Phoenix, Blue Island, Hazel Crest, East Hazel Crest, Glenwood, Thornton, Dixmoor, Burnham, Homewood, Markham, and Posen are encouraged to register.

The summer program launched on June 14 and will run on Fridays and Saturdays 9:00am–3:00pm through August 31, 2019. Different workshops are offered each program day. Enrollment is open until the program is full.

Thornton Township and LCRWI are offering the program in order to improve STEM experiences and learnings for children, community mentors, and parents; and to provide the necessary tools to help strengthen their skills, resilience, and self-sufficiency.

Classes are located in the Riverdale Youth & Family Services division of Thornton Township, located at 14323 South Halsted Street, Riverdale, Illinois.
