Fireworks on Freedom’s Eve and Independence Day

In Calumet City and Lansing

by Melanie Jongsma

CALUMET CITY and LANSING, Ill. (June 25, 2019) – The Calumet Memorial Park District and the City of Calumet City have chosen Freedom’s Eve (Wednesday, July 3) as the date of their celebration of America’s independence. Festivities will begin at 5:00pm at T.F. North High School (755 Pulaski Road) in Calumet City. The free program includes games, a DJ, vendors, food for sale, senior line dancing, and live entertainment provided by Rico: The Michael Jackson Experience, Return2Soul, and The Javon Watson Experience. No one under the age of 18 will be allowed without a parent or guardian after 7:00pm. Fireworks will begin at 9:30pm. For additional information, call 708-868-2530, x121.

No entertainment is scheduled at Fox Pointe on Wednesday, July 3, so there is no conflict for residents who want to explore the options in neighboring towns.

For those who prefer to celebrate independence on actual Independence Day—or who want to continue the celebration—Lansing’s own Lan-Oak Park District will hold a July 4th Celebration Spectacular in Lan-Oak Park (180th and Arcadia), beginning at 5:00pm Thursday. The family-friendly celebration includes food vendors, carnival rides, a live band, and old-fashioned family games. The traditional fireworks show by Melrose Pyrotechnics will begin at dusk.
