State Rep Marcus Evans to hold Town Hall meeting in Lansing

LANSING, Ill. (July 13, 2019) – State Representative Marcus Evans has chosen Lansing’s Fox Pointe as the venue for his Town Hall meeting, Thursday, July 18, beginning at 6:00pm.

Evans will be joined by Lansing Mayor Patty Eidam, and four other District 33 mayors have been invited to speak:

  • Calumet City Mayor Michelle Markiewicz Qualkinbush
  • Lynwood Mayor Eugene Williams
  • Burnham Mayor Robert Polk
  • Sauk Village Mayor Derrick Burgess

Guests are invited to gather in the pavilion at Fox Pointe to hear Rep. Evans provide a legislative update on bills and new legislation passed during session. “This informs constituents what Rep. Evans did while in Springfield—what bills he supported, sponsored, or co-sponsored,” explained Evans’ assistant and Lansing resident Micaela Smith.

The Governor’s Office will also do a presentation on the Fair Tax Plan, and there will be a question-and-answer session to address any state concerns.

Other topics of discussion include:

  • Legalizing cannabis
  • Expanding gambling
  • The state budget
  • Minimum wage
  • The Reproductive Health Act
