GLENWOOD, Ill. (July 14, 2019) – Entertainment, information, food, beverages, raffle prizes, and gifts are all part of this year’s annual Senior Picnic, sponsored by Bloom Township. Tickets have been on sale since July 1, and a ticket is required in order to receive a lunch. “No ticket – no lunch,” says the Bloom Township flyer. “Must repay the $5.00 to receive a lunch.”
The event, held at Veterans Memorial Park (19101 Halsted Street, Glenwood) runs from 10:00am–3:00pm, though no lunches will be served after 1:30pm. Attenders are encouraged to bring their own tablecloth, snacks, treats, games, and lawn chairs.
As early as 9:00am, senior service providers from the southland area will be available to provide giveaways and information about senior services. A DJ will provide music in the morning, and live music will accompany the afternoon. A caricature artist will also be drawing pictures on request.
The $5.00 lunch, served at 12:00 noon, is a hot chicken box lunch, with roasted potatoes, green beans, and rolls. Beverages will be provided free of charge.
In addition to the raffle prizes, Bloom Township Supervisor TJ Somer and the Township Board will give all attenders a free gift.
Free transportation to the picnic is available for Bloom Township residents. Call the Bloom Township Senior Wheels at 754-8200 to make arrangements.
