  1. All the Trustees that voted for OTB at the north end of town, are you listening now? The evil that gambling perpetuates looks a lot like this. It is evasive, petulant, self-serving, and destructive.

Trustees Steven Fish, Maureen Grady-Perovich, Brian Hardy, and Michael Manno, it is not too late to overturn your vote on OTB. Sure, there would be some embarrassment involved at first, but the bigger picture would prevail and you will be remembered as the administration that cared enough and was transparent enough demonstrating strength to right a wrong. Change for the better is always embraced.

  2. I agree with the other comment ‘It is criminal.’ We REALLY do NOT want any more crime-related businesses in our town!! We have enough going on here now because of the many cheap hotels that are easily accessed from the expressway! People can shoot, kill or rob the businesses there on Torrence (either direction) and get right back on the expressway and head out of town without being caught!!! Yes, I know OTB would bring us lots of money — but it will also increase our crime level GREATLY, I think. Can’t we think of another more wholesome business to put into our old K-Mart area??? How about a Big Lots or other business that isn’t already here? I don’t think Calumet City would care!!! Or another car dealership!!! They could easily use that space. PLEASE re-think your idea of OTB and head in another, safer direction. PLEASE!!!!
