LANSING, Ill. (September 7, 2019) – Cook County Commissioner Stanley Moore will join Lansing Mayor Patty Eidam, State Senator Elgie R. Sims Jr., State Representative Marcus C. Evans Jr., and Thornton Township Supervisor Frank Zuccarelli to host a 2020 Census Job Day for residents in the 4th District on Thursday, September 12, from 6:00–8:00pm at the Lansing Public Library, 2750 Indiana Avenue, Lansing, Illinois.
The U.S. Census Bureau Chicago Regional Office will be on hand to talk with residents about the temporary jobs available in Cook County in advance of the 2020 Census. Job opportunities offer flexible work hours, including daytime, evenings, and weekends. Residents will be able to apply onsite for census jobs and staff will be available to answer questions.
“The 2020 Census is important to the health and vitality of Cook County,” said Cook County Commissioner Stanley Moore who serves as chairman of the Cook County Complete Count Census Commission. “In less than a year, the U.S. Census Bureau will count all residents in Cook County. It is critical that constituents in my District have the opportunity to apply and to be hired for census jobs. They will be essential to the Census Bureau operations so that every person on every block is counted.”
Lansing Village Clerk Vivian Payne is leading Lansing’s effort to be involved in the 2020 Census. She is forming a Complete Count Committee made up of volunteers who will serve as “Census Ambassadors.” Committee members will receive training from the US Census Bureau so they can answer questions and address fears about census participation. In order to most accurately reflect Lansing, Payne would like the Complete Count Committee to include a variety of members who are people of influence in a variety of networks that will act as trusted voices to the residents.
