Obituary: Martin William Alderden

Martin William Alderden, age 90 of Lansing, Illinois, formerly of Randolph, WI, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2019.

Martin is survived by his loving children: Janice (late Jeff) Wilkerson, Joanne (Clarence) Smit and Martin (Elisabeth) Alderden Jr.; loving grandfather of: Jason (Hillary) Wilkerson, Jaime (Ryan) Bruinsma, Julie (Chris) Schaap, Kristen (Jeremy) Jones, Lisa (Chad) Doornbos, Marissa (Scott) Edburg, and twins Sarah and Aaron Alderden; great grandfather of: Matthew Bruinsma, Hannah Bruinsma, Kate Bruinsma, Julia Bruinsma, Kaylee Schaap, Nolan Schaap, Caleb Jones, Andrew Jones, Baby Jones, Leah Doornbos, Nora Doornbos, Shane Doornbos, and John Owen Edburg. Also surviving is sister Gertrude (late Al) Favenesi. Martin was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jean Alderden, parents William and Gertrude Alderden, and brothers Jack (late Helen) Alderden and Bill (late Charlotte) Alderden.

Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, October 6, 2019, from 2:00 to 8:00pm at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois. Funeral services for Martin will be held Monday, October 7, 2019, at First Church (PCA), 3134 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois at 11:00am, with Pastor John Rogers officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 10:00am until time of service. Martin will be laid to rest at Oakridge Cemetery, Lansing, Illinois.

Martin was a proud United States Army veteran serving in the Korean War from 1951 to 1952, was a member of Local Union 150 Operators for 40 years. He was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, uncle, and son. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and the outdoors. He had a spirited personality and enjoyed having fun wherever he went. He truly enjoyed his family and his grandchildren. He was loved by many, and he will be truly missed. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to First Church (PCA) in Lansing, IL or Providence Hospice.
