CRETE, Ill. (October 15, 2019) – Seven southside breweries will be featured at the inaugural Dixie Highway Brewery Trail Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 19, at Blue Island Beer Company on historic Old Western Avenue.

The trail is the first of its kind in the Chicago area and was recently recognized by the Chicago Southland Convention and Visitors Bureau for encouraging both locals and visitors to support local breweries. The independently owned breweries on the trail are:

  1. Evil Horse Brewing Company in Crete
  2. Rabid Brewing in Homewood
  3. One Trick Pony Brewery in Lansing
  4. Flossmoor Station Restaurant and Brewery in Flossmoor
  5. Blue Island Beer Company in Blue Island
  6. Open Outcry Brewing in Beverly
  7. Horse Thief Hollow Brewing Company in Beverly

A new addition to the trail will be announced at the Oktoberfest.

Trailblazers can obtain a passport at any of the above breweries. After visiting each brewery one time and purchasing a minimum of one beer at each location, participants are awarded a prize. Prizes change every six months to encourage beer lovers to do the trail again.

The Oktoberfest will feature beer from each of the breweries, delicious German sausages, German beer-drinking music, the debut of the new trail completion prize and Dixie Highway Brewery Trail merchandise, plus drawings and a pretzel vendor. Prizes will be awarded to guests who are dressed in the best German attire.

Tickets are available on Eventbrite.com or may be purchased at Evil Horse Brewing, One Trick Pony, and Blue Island Beer Company. A limited amount of tickets will be available at the door, so attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets prior to the event. VIP tickets are $50 and include early access to the event and a gift. General admission tickets are $40, and designated driver tickets are available for $15. Each ticket includes a German sausage meal plus a souvenir glass and beer tastings. Attendees must be 21 or older.
