LANSING, Ill. (November 19, 2019) – As one of the first orders of business at tonight’s Village Board meeting, Mayor Patty Eidam invited Deputy Fire Chief Bill Stubitsch to describe to the Board and the public the life-extending measures his paramedics took on two recent occasions.

Stubitsch called to the front Paul Steinweg, Aaron Jadernak, Jim Perreault, Trevor Banske, Marty Burns, and Jordan Moraga, who were part of the crews on September 5 and September 23 who provided onsite emergency care that allowed two patients to arrive safely to a local hospital, where they could be stabilized while their families were alerted and gathered. Stubitsch read letters from Franciscan Alliance EMS Coordinator Matthew Eddy, who wrote, “[These events are examples] of the hard work and impressive skill often displayed by the officers of the Lansing Fire Department.” Others mentioned in the letters but not in attendance at the Board meeting were Robert Karpiel, Morgan Jordan, Kevin Lapointe, and Todd Kulacz.

Eddy’s correspondence continued, “On behalf of Franciscan Alliance, I would like to commend these firefighter/paramedics and present them with a St. Michael the Archangel pin. As he is our protector and the patron saint of EMS providers, may this pin be a constant reminder of the lives they protect every day.”

While Chief Stubitsch handed the pins to the firefighter/paramedics, the Village Board and members of the audience rose to give them a standing ovation.
