LANSING, Ill. (November 27, 2019) – LARC is gearing up for Giving Tuesday, a nationally recognized day of giving held on December 3, 2019. An anonymous donor will join the LARC Board of Directors in matching the first $2,800 in contributions made to LARC from now through December 3, 2019. Funds raised on Giving Tuesday will help provide LARC’s clients with opportunities to work, live, and participate in the community.
Cosima, one of LARC’s clients, expressed why these opportunities are important. “I love LARC!” she says. “I have my own room and get more quiet time to myself. I have made a lot of new friends here, and I am very happy. I like earning a paycheck and working on the box job. It’s nice to have my own money to buy things that I need. LARC makes me feel special.”
“LARC prides itself on promoting quality, dignity, and choice so that our clients can achieve greater independence in their lives,” says Ernie Gonzalez, Executive Director. “This Giving Tuesday, we ask that you please remember LARC and other amazing individuals like Cosima. All donations will make a difference, and no donation is too small.”

Giving Tuesday began in 2012 as an alternative to Black Friday-style commercialization and consumerism in the post-Thanksgiving season. In addition to Giving Tuesday, the consumer-to-business days following Thanksgiving now also include Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.
