information provided by the Office of the Governor

SPRINGFIELD – During the 29th Annual Downstate Illinois Occupational Safety & Health Day (DIOSH) on March 4, 2020, in Peoria, the Governor’s Award for Health and Safety will be presented to a person who has made significant contributions to occupational health and/or safety.

You can nominate someone—or yourself—for this prestigious award through January 31, 2020. The nomination form is available at www.dioshday.com. The Illinois Department of Labor is a cosponsor of DIOSH Day, which will be held at the Peoria Civic Center.

“Worker safety is a core mission of the Illinois Department of Labor, and we know health and safety is a priority for private and public employers. This is a great chance to give your health and safety advocates recognition for their important work. I urge you to consider nominating a worthy individual,” said IDOL director Michael Kleinik.

DIOSH Day is for employers, employees, and all others interested in safety and health. Experts in the field will present numerous sessions on the most current issues in safety and health today. The Illinois Department of Labor, other governmental agencies and private vendors also will provide information and materials in a large exhibition area.
