LANSING, Ill. (February 27, 2020) – At the February 25 Regular Board of Education meeting, the District received a letter of resignation from Superintendent Dr. Teresa A. Lance, effective June 30, 2020. Dr. Lance has served as Superintendent for District 215 since July of 2018 and is leaving to become the Assistant Superintendent for Equity and Innovation in Illinois Unit District 46.

During her tenure as Superintendent of District 215, Dr. Lance led efforts to reduce racially disproportionate out-of-school suspensions and expulsions across the District’s three campuses. In addition to initiating and leading a comprehensive overhaul of District 215’s curriculum, Dr. Lance worked to introduce Advanced Placement classes to 9th graders and expanded the district’s Advanced Placement offerings to include seven new AP courses in the span of one year. Through her leadership, the District was able to hire a new Director of Teaching and Learning and provide more equitable opportunities for students. Lance also worked to ensure school safety by leading the district in becoming an ALICE-certified school district, the first in the region.

District 215 Board President Michael Bolz said, “We were fortunate to have Dr. Lance’s leadership in our district and are proud of the important contributions she has made. The Board wishes Dr. Lance success in her new venture and thanks her for dedicated work and initiatives she has put in place during her tenure in the district. The Board looks forward to working collaboratively with Dr. Lance to ensure a smooth transition as we work to identify our next superintendent.”
