LANSING, Ill. (May 6, 2020) – The Biblical Garden was a new addition to the grounds at Trinity Lutheran Church last summer, thanks to the passion of garden enthusiast Diane Lund, who also leads the Lansing Garden Club. This year the Biblical Garden has been enhanced with new lettered stakes that will more easily help visitors identify the plants they are looking at.
Like all Biblical Gardens, the one at Trinity is a collection of plants that are named in the Bible. An instructional guide uses a lettered grid to indicate the location of each plant, and it provides the plant’s common name, the botanical name, a sample Bible reference, and the verse in either the King James Version, the Modern King James Version, or the International Standard Version.
The center of Trinity’s Biblical Garden is the large planter under the cross that faces Indiana Avenue, though other Biblical plants appear throughout the landscaping around the church building. Visitors are welcome to take their own self-guided walking tour around the grounds, using the laminated garden guide to learn about the various plants.
