HIGHLAND, Ind. (May 22, 2020) – Miles Books (2819 Jewett Avenue in Highland, Indiana) resumed somewhat normal hours when they re-opened earlier this week for walk-ins who observe safe social distancing. The independent bookstore will host Joseph Pete, author of Lost Hammond, Indiana, at a book signing event on Saturday, May 30.

Pete is Hammond-born, an author who uses his experience as a journalist to explore the hardworking people of the industrial calumet region. Local residents interested in meeting him and purchasing a signed copy of the book are encouraged to stop by the bookstore. Those who are unable to attend the event may call 219-838-8700 to reserve a signed copy of the book for pick-up at a later date. Miles Books can also ship copies worldwide.

“For the author signing, we are required to practice safe social distancing per State Mandate,” says bookstore owner Jim Roumbos. “We strongly encourage face masks for the safety of all.”

Miles Books is located at 2819 Jewett Avenue in Highland, Indiana. The shop is open most days 11:00am–6:00pm, Saturdays 11:00am–4:00pm. More information is available by contacting the shop directly:
