Hopes remain for 2020 holiday offerings at Fox Pointe, with details to be released “very soon”

LANSING, Ill. (August 4. 2020) – The Village of Lansing has officially canceled its entire 2020 Fox Pointe concert and event season scheduled to run through early October of this year.
The COVID-19 guidelines currently in place for Phase 4 in Illinois do not allow for general admission shows and/or events without seating (e.g., standing room only). With no apparent end to Phase 4 in the immediate future, the Village feels the health and safety of all Fox Pointe guests and event staff is best ensured by keeping the venue closed for now.
Over the last few months, the Village remained hopeful that a portion of the original 2020 season—set to kick off in early June—could still be salvaged. Administration continued to monitor all data and communication from the State of Illinois for a possible chance to open, but with recent signs of a slight increase in positive COVID-19 tests in Illinois, the Village believes the safest and wisest choice is not to open.
Mayor Eidam summarized the thoughts of many by stating, “My level of disappointment is very high. The necessary cancellation of the 2020 Fox Pointe season reminds me of the joyful gatherings we all enjoyed there in the debut season last year. However, the hope and anticipation of hosting the Northwest Indiana Symphony and many other popular local entertainers in 2021 is also very high. While Fox Pointe is closed, renovations and additions to the existing grounds and buildings are being added to enhance the experience for future guests. We are also working to expand the 2020 holiday offerings at Fox Pointe. Be looking for details on this very soon.”
In addition to preparing for an enhanced holiday experience in and around the venue, Fox Pointe Director Tony Troncozo is already beginning to assemble entertainment options for next season.
Fox Pointe is located at 18138 Henry Street in Lansing, Illinois.
