South Holland man currently being held at Markham Courthouse after August 5 arrest
information provided by the Lansing Police Department
LANSING, Ill. (August 7, 2020) – On August 5, 2020, at approximately 2:19pm, officers responded to the area of 171st and Burnham Ave for a domestic dispute. The caller advised that her boyfriend had just punched her in the stomach and that he was carrying a handgun.
Upon officers’ arrival, the offender later identified as Rasheed Moore, age 20, from South Holland fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, he was apprehended in the 17100 block of Walter Street. A loaded 9 mm High-Point handgun was located in close proximity of where Mr. Moore was taken into custody. A show-up with the victim was conducted, and Mr. Moore was positively identified as the subject who had punched her and had the loaded weapon in his possession.
Rasheed Moore was charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Domestic Battery, and Resisting/Obstructing Arrest for fleeing from officers. He was transferred to Markham Courthouse where he is being held without bond.
This was not Mr. Moore’s first encounter with the Lansing Police Department. On July 15, 2020, Mr. Moore fled from officers on foot during a traffic stop. He was located after a short foot pursuit. A loaded Smith and Wesson .380 was located in close proximity to him then as well. In that incident, he was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Resisting/Obstructing Arrest for fleeing from officers.
Of course we can thank Lansing PD for safely apprehending the subject each time. We can also thank Cook County Prosecutor Kim Foxx for the “catch and release” system currently in place that benefits all violent criminal suspects – what a joke!
Interesting that of all the articles this gets that kind of comment…ok Dan.
