A Labor Day thank-you

to members of The Lansing Journal advertising community

by Melanie Jongsma, Managing Editor

Note: The following message was emailed on Saturday to anyone who has advertised in The Lansing Journal. It is posted here as a reminder to readers that our advertisers are part of this community as well, and we are grateful for the services and support they provide.

LANSING, Ill. (September 6, 2020) – Labor Day kind of snuck up on me this week, possibly because any sense of normal seasonal markers is gone for this year!

But I didn’t want the holiday to slip by without acknowledging you as local businesses, churches, schools, and other organizations who are so essential to this community.

Due to the craziness of these past months, many of you have labored more than ever—sometimes for less income. You’ve changed your services, your hours, your plans. You’ve put in long days trying to keep your business going and trying to keep serving your community with excellence.

Some of you have found yourselves with less labor than you would like. You had to shut down or at least take a break, and maybe you had to let go of some laborers you could no longer keep busy.

Whatever brand of difficulty you’ve been through, I hope you know you are not alone. Our local Chamber of Commerce continues to be a resource for local organizations of all kinds. And I have found that residents in our communities are doing what they can to shop local and support local, even in cases where their own income has been reduced.

As a fellow business owner, I am grateful to be part of a community that pulls together during tough times. This Labor Day, I want to thank all of you who have allowed The Lansing Journal to labor alongside you, sharing your stories through our reporting as well as our advertising options. Like you, we’ve been through a lot of changes, but I think we are emerging stronger and smarter and better equipped.

This Labor Day weekend I hope you are able to rest from your labors, at least for a while.

Thank you for being part of my community.
