Looking back at summer chalk art

by Melanie Jongsma

LANSING, Ill. (September 14, 2020) – Bill Blanchard didn’t let COVID-19 restrict his creativity this summer. In July he sent us photos of a few of his chalk art masterpieces. He said the drawings were a good outlet for him and others “stuck at home.” And they were a way to “entertain people walking in the neighborhood.”

Blanchard’s neighbor—known online as Face Painting by Hilary, LLC—is the one who inspired him. Hilary’s work includes not only sidewalk art, but also face painting, glitter tattoos, and balloon art for parties, church events, and corporate events.
