New look, enhanced features, same local content

LANSING, Ill. (October 12, 2020) – Tuesday morning’s email to Lansing Journal subscribers will look like it always does—our logo, a “Today’s headlines” header, and 2–5 headlines that link to articles that have been published in the previous 24 hours.
But when readers click on those links, they will arrive at a new website that looks different.
This may be disorienting at first. Our redesigned website offers some new features and a new layout, so regular visitors might feel a little lost when they first arrive. We apologize in advance for that, and we appreciate your willingness to explore and become familiar with our new site.
The differences won’t be quite as dramatic when you visit an individual article, which is where you land when you click on one of those headlines in the daily email. The fonts will look different, and there are some added options at the beginning and end of each article, but the article page layout is basically the same.
It’s the home page where the difference is most dramatic. We’ve expanded the home page in order to provide a greater sense of the amount and variety of news we publish—yet we’ve also worked hard to keep it all organized. You’ll notice more photos, more categories, and clear labels so even first-time visitors will understand what they’re seeing.
Yes, a pop-up
As you enter our new site for the first time, you’ll be confronted with a pop-up that asks you to sign in. Please do, even if you’re already a subscriber. You can use the same email address that receives the Daily News email, and that will help our new site recognize and remember you in future visits.
More than a new look
The changes we’ve made are not merely cosmetic. Our new website will serve our current readership (and advertisers) better, and it will help us attract new readers (and advertisers). We’ll explain more about that when the new site is up and running and we can give you a tour.
For now, just prepare yourselves for tomorrow morning’s adventure!
