LANSING, Ill. (December 16, 2020) – The Lansing Human Relations Commission meeting scheduled for December 17 has been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns. The cancellation is the second consecutive cancellation of the commission’s monthly meetings, which had been taking place in the courthouse within the Lansing Police Department. The HRC is scheduled to meet on the third Thursday of each month.
Ken Reynolds, Director of Communication for the Village of Lansing, said before the November 19 meeting cancellation, “COVID-19 data will continue being monitored monthly for when these meetings may be able to resume.”

The Human Relations Commission is an advisory body, not a decision-making body. They meet to discuss Lansing’s diverse citizenship and ideas for ensuring that all kinds of people feel welcome in community, business, and government. Their recommendations go to the Village Board of Trustees, who decide what actions to take.
